More than anything else, Bernie Ecclestone a businessman. And as a businessman, he is interested in increasing spectacle of Formula One racing. To this end, reports suggest that F1 boss speaks with Simon Cowell and Simon Fuller - the creative forces behind American Idol, among countless other reality TV shows - on how to make F1 more attractive to a wider audience.
A proposal for Simons has reportedly put forward a thorough reformatting of the Grand Prix weekend. Instead of practice, qualifying and racing over a three day weekend, Cowell (pictured above in Red Bull Racing garage) and Fuller has reportedly proposed to cut the schedule down to two days with two races: the actual grand prix on Sunday, followed by An example race on Saturday contested between the teams' test drivers. Saturday races would count only against the constructors' championship.
It is not the first time that Fuller, for his part, has been associated with F1. Recently we reported on Lewis Hamilton signing with Fuller's talent agency. Fuller was also the mastermind behind the looming MyEarthDream initiative fielded by the Honda F1 team before it withdrew from the sport ....
